This jointer will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Covent Garden office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team. You will attract a salary of 43,904 + shift allowance + benefits and a bonus of 3%. If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

Job Purpose: To work as part of a team to deliver the enhanced fault response performance within the London area. This includes liaison with customers, network operations and control management of contractors as required. This will involve working with the full-time dedicated customer champions within the team.

Duties:

  • Location of faults on the Distribution network.
  • The restoration of LV supplies in agreement with LV control.
  • Testing and switching on the LV network and understanding the results of the tests and acting appropriately.
  • Repairs to public lighting services.
  • Any other relevant jointing duties.
  • Supervision of excavating teams.
  • Understanding and providing updates for operational and 1:500 diagrams, LV and HV jointing.
  • Use of appropriate IT equipment including TDR, LV Faults sniffer and FFE equipment.
  • Immediate supervision of Craft Attendant.
  • LB inspections and carrying out of network sweeps as required.

Nature and Scope: You will play an important role in the safe restoration of LV supplies. We are regulated by various guidelines, and it will ensure successful compliance with Customer Minutes Lost and Customer Interruption targets. You may be required to work at any location.

Qualifications:

  • City and Guilds 2339 (formally 2322) certificate or equivalent.
  • HAUC (NRSWA) qualification as a supervisor and operative.
  • Flexibility and able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to problem solve in a practical way.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Must have a clean driving licence.
  • Understanding operational and 1:500 diagrams.
  • Strong safety focus required.
  • Must be customer focused.

Principal Accountabilities: The position, working as part of the wider team will be responsible for the restoration of LV supplies on the UK Power Networks LV distribution system, carrying out jointing repairs on the HV and LV cable networks. Any training required will be provided to you.
