Craft Attendant Jointer
This craft attendant jointer will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Canning Town East London office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.
Compensation: £40,144 + benefits and a bonus of 3%.
Requirements: Medical and DBS reference check.

Principal Accountabilities
- Observe all work on live LV apparatus with exposed conductors.
- Ensure safe use of equipment in line with health & safety procedures and network standards, ensuring colleagues on site wear relevant PPE.
- Detain members of the public distracting staff while working on live equipment and ensure ‘Do Not Disturb’ signs are prominently displayed during live electrical work.
- Set up equipment for the Jointer, including preparation of work, laying out tools and equipment for a task, and equipping the vehicle to enable jobs to be carried out.
- Assist the Jointer when he/she carries out work on live 240/415V apparatus, conductors or equipment as required in accordance with appropriate safety procedures.
- Use appropriate IT equipment such as SAP Work Manager – an electronic job issuing system.
- Dig and aid in excavating holes safely, liaising effectively with external contractors.
- Support the Jointer in terms of risk assessment of a job for feasibility, safety, knowledge of tools and equipment, timeliness and liaise with Field Engineer when appropriate.
- Carry out a system emergency storm role in accordance with network standards and safety requirements.
Essential Qualifications
- Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent.
- Jointing Competency.
- Sound knowledge of electrical distribution.
- Understanding of the Electricity at Work Act, including electrical diagrams, maps, points of isolation/earthing.
- Understanding of the New Roads & Streetworks Act (NRSWA) – Units 1, 2 and 3 successfully achieved.
- Training at a training centre for a basic grasp of policy and health & safety; expected to learn on the job.
- Trained in Emergency First Aid.
- Awareness of policies relating to network standards and Health & Safety; able to escalate to the craft person if a policy fail is suspected.
- Full UK driving licence required.
