CAD Design Technician - Capital Programme Location: Bury St Edmunds | Salary: £56,576 plus 3% bonus | Working pattern: Permanent, blended working after probationary period | Closing date: 09/08/2026 Are you an experienced CAD professional who enjoys turning complex technical information into accurate, compliant drawings? UK Power Networks is looking for a CAD Design Technician to join the Capital Programme directorate, supporting the delivery of vital electricity infrastructure projects across the network. Reporting to the Design Lead, you will produce civil, electrical, circuit, overhead line and diversion drawings in line with engineer designs, company standards, Codes of Practice and relevant regulations. Your work will support Capital Programme Connections projects, with potential involvement across APP and Diversions activity. You will collaborate closely with Civil, Electrical, Circuit/OHL Designers and Principal Design Coordinators to ensure technical information is correctly interpreted and delivered to the required safety, design, CDM and quality standards. Key responsibilities include: Creating and updating civil substation, electrical substation, circuit, overhead line and diversion drawings. Working from engineer requirements to produce accurate technical drawings and documentation. Supporting document control, assurance and audit processes. Complying with CDM Regulations, safety requirements, company drawing standards and quality procedures.This is an opportunity to apply your CAD expertise to meaningful infrastructure work that helps keep electricity flowing safely and reliably for customers. You will be part of a dedicated design team, working on technically varied projects while building strong relationships with engineers, planners, estimators and design coordinators. We are looking for someone with at least three years' experience using AutoDesk AutoCAD, knowledge of Bentley MicroStation and experience with drawing or document management systems such as AutoDesk Construction Cloud. You will understand drawing conventions, electrical symbols, OS mapping, CDM requirements and quality assurance processes, and you will be confident working both independently and as part of a team.
