Behind the scenes, our finance teams play a crucial role in making that happen — and we’re now looking for a Payments Assistant to join our busy service centre team in Stockton Heath. About the Role
You’ll be part of our central Banking & Payments team, responsible for keeping our supplier accounts accurate, up to date, and well managed. That means handling large volumes of transactions, managing reconciliations, and liaising with suppliers and internal teams to make sure everything runs to plan.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Processing supplier invoices to the purchase ledger
- Maintaining and updating supplier bank details
- Managing new supplier setups with data accuracy
- Reconciling supplier statements and maintaining creditor accounts
- Preparing and supporting supplier payment runs (weekly and monthly)
- Making ad hoc payments and raising cheques when required
- Liaising directly with suppliers to resolve payment issues
- Acting as a key point of contact for payment queries from across the business
- Producing reports and supporting the Payments Manager with projects
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years' experience in an Accounts Payable role
- Confident handling high volumes of invoices with accuracy and consistency
- Solid background in supplier statement reconciliations and account maintenance
- Comfortable speaking with suppliers and colleagues across the business
- Friendly, professional communicator with a calm and practical approach
- Organised and reliable - someone who keeps things moving and spots when something’s off
- Someone who’s motivated, approachable, and keen to keep learning
