About the Role

We're looking for a Sales Executive to join our team, with a genuine focus on generating new business and growing sales within the local area.

This role will be focused on outbound sales and business development.

You'll be given lists of potential customers, including dormant accounts and local businesses identified through sources such as the Gas Safe Register, and you'll be responsible for turning those opportunities into new trading relationships.

This means picking up the phone, starting conversations, understanding what local tradespeople and businesses need from their merchant and giving them a reason to start using us.

You'll also have the opportunity to build relationships face-to-face, bring new customers into the site and develop accounts once they've started trading with us.

The other half of the role will be based around the trade counter and wider site operation.

You'll serve existing customers, build quotes, manage orders and accounts and support the team with the day-to-day running of the merchant.

You don't need previous plumbing and heating experience. We're more interested in your ability to sell, build relationships, identify opportunities and follow them through.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Proactively contact potential customers and local tradespeople to generate new business.
  • Work through lists of dormant, low-spend and potential customer accounts to identify opportunities.
  • Make outbound calls, follow up leads and maintain regular contact with prospects.
  • Introduce customers to the merchant and understand what they need from their supplier.
  • Build relationships that turn initial conversations into new accounts and regular business.
  • Re-engage dormant customers and identify opportunities to increase their spend.
  • Arrange customer visits and other face-to-face activity where it will help develop the relationship.
  • Serve trade customers on the counter and build strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Build quotes, manage orders and support customer accounts.
  • Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions.
  • Develop your knowledge of plumbing and heating products through training and experience.
  • Support trade events, customer visits and local sales activity.
  • Support the wider operation, including picking, packing and keeping the site running efficiently.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys selling and creating business, rather than simply waiting for customers to come to them.

You might currently work in

  • B2B sales or outbound sales.
  • Business development or telesales.
  • Account management with a strong new-business focus.
  • Trade counter or merchant sales.
  • Customer service with responsibility for generating sales.
  • Another sales environment where you are responsible for identifying and winning new customers.

You'll bring

  • Confidence speaking to new customers over the phone and face-to-face.
  • A genuine appetite for outbound sales and business development.
  • The ability to build relationships quickly and turn conversations into opportunities.
  • Persistence and the confidence to follow up when a potential customer doesn't immediately say yes.
  • A commercial approach to identifying where new business can be won and existing accounts can be developed.
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage outbound activity alongside day-to-day customer responsibilities.
  • A willingness to learn plumbing and heating products and understand the merchant's offer.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to support the wider site when required.

If you're confident speaking to people, enjoy winning new business and want a sales role where you're expected to create opportunities rather than wait for them, we'd like to hear from you.
