UK Planet Tools Ltd is seeking a Junior Buyer / Purchasing Assistant to support the Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager with day-to-day purchasing and procurement administration across our power tools, accessories, spare parts, and related product ranges. This role is ideal for individuals seeking a career in buying/procurement within a fast-paced e-commerce business. You will focus on accurate purchase order processing, supplier coordination, maintaining product/SKU and pricing data, and ensuring stock is ordered, tracked, and received on time to support excellent availability and fulfilment performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager with daily purchasing tasks and basic procurement planning aligned to e-commerce demand.
  • Raise, prepare, and process purchase orders accurately in line with UK Planet Tools’ procedures and approval controls.
  • Request, compile, and compare supplier quotations, including price, lead time, MOQ, payment terms, and delivery terms (including Incoterms where applicable).
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, SKU master data, and pricing details within internal systems.
  • Chase suppliers for order acknowledgements, production updates, dispatch dates, and outstanding orders to protect stock availability.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Logistics, and Operations to ensure timely receipt of goods, correct documentation, and stock readiness for online orders.
  • Assist with resolving delivery discrepancies (shortages/damages), credit notes, invoice mismatches, and routine supplier queries.
  • Prepare regular purchasing and inventory reports such as open order status, spend tracking, lead-time summaries, and delivery performance updates.
  • Support sourcing by researching potential suppliers, identifying new products relevant to the power tools market, and monitoring trends and competitor activity.
  • Provide general procurement administration, including data entry, document control, and filing of supplier documentation as required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling pricing, SKUs, and purchase order data.
  • Confident communication skills (email/phone) with a professional approach to supplier and internal follow-up.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks, maintain order trackers, and meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including Excel/Google Sheets; comfortable learning ERP/stock systems.
  • Practical problem-solving ability, especially when supporting issue resolution for deliveries and invoices.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn buying/procurement fundamentals in an e-commerce environment.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Entry-level role: previous experience in purchasing, admin, stock control, supply chain, or e-commerce operations is advantageous but not essential.
  • GCSEs/A-Levels (or equivalent) required; business, logistics, or supply chain-related study is a plus.
  • Interest in the power tools/hardware category is desirable.
