We are looking for an experienced, practical and approachable Human Resources Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day HR function and support the continued development of our business.
You will be responsible for the full employee lifecycle and provide clear, commercially sensible HR guidance across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day HR function, providing practical advice and support to the Managing Director, managers and employees.
- Manage employee relations matters, including conduct, disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, performance and wellbeing cases.
- Deliver end-to-end recruitment, from workforce planning and advertising to selection, offers, pre-employment checks, onboarding and probation reviews.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, contracts, policies, handbooks and documentation for starters, leavers and contractual changes.
- Coordinate performance reviews, training, employee development, succession planning, engagement and retention initiatives.
- Provide accurate monthly payroll information, including pay changes, holidays, sickness, statutory payments, starters and leavers, and support benefits administration.
- Ensure compliance with UK employment law, right-to-work requirements, GDPR, working-time rules and Company policies, recommending updates when required.
- Produce and analyse HR reports covering headcount, absence, turnover, recruitment and other key people measures.
- Promote a fair, professional, inclusive and performance-focused workplace culture across all departments.
- Support organisational change, restructuring, consultation and wider business-improvement projects while continually improving HR processes and systems.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- ACIPD Level 5 qualification or above. Professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with experience managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.
- Proven recruitment and onboarding capability, supported by accurate HR administration, reporting and payroll coordination.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to advise managers and support employees at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound commercial judgement, with the ability to balance employee needs and HR best practice with business requirements.
- A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
- Confidence using HR systems, Microsoft Office and payroll-related processes.
Experience Required
- Proven experience as a generalist HR Manager or Senior HR Adviser, managing the full employee lifecycle.
- Experience independently handling complex employee relations matters and recruitment across multiple business functions.
- A strong track record of partnering with senior leadership and providing practical guidance to line managers.
