We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and innovative Trainer to establish and lead our Learning and Development function. This is a pivotal role offering genuine influence over how we develop our workforce, build training excellence, and embed a culture of continuous learning that directly impacts care quality and CQC compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Training Delivery & Development
    • Design and deliver innovative, engaging face‑to‑face training sessions across all mandatory care standards and best practice frameworks.
    • Develop bespoke training programmes covering paediatric and adult complex care services, with specialist expertise in mental health, deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS), dementia, and learning disabilities.
    • Deliver training to groups of mixed abilities with confidence, adaptability, and strong facilitation skills.
    • Ensure all training content is current, evidence‑based, and aligned to CQC Good to Outstanding standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Continuously review and evaluate training effectiveness based on learner feedback and outcome data.
  • Department Leadership & Management
    • Establish and manage the Learning and Development department, setting training standards and governance frameworks.
    • Lead training budgets, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Recruit, support, and develop training delivery team members.
    • Set performance metrics and quality assurance processes for all training activities.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work collaboratively with managers across clinical and operational services to identify training needs and priorities.
    • Partner with senior leadership to align training with business objectives and service improvement initiatives.
    • Represent training excellence at meetings, forums, and external stakeholder events.
    • Build relationships with external training partners and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Maintain meticulous, up‑to‑date training records aligned with best practice and CQC compliance standards.
    • Create and manage training documentation, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Ensure timely, accurate reporting on training delivery, completion rates, and staff competencies.
    • Stay current with legislation, CQC expectations, and industry best practice; influence policy and practice accordingly.
    • Lead training audits and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards.
  • Regulatory & Quality Leadership
    • Ensure all training reflects CQC standards for Good to Outstanding, with particular focus on safeguarding, infection prevention, and care quality.
    • Support the organisation's regulatory journey and compliance planning.
    • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives through evidence‑based training interventions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant teaching or training qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care, Train the Trainer, Assessor qualification, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience delivering training in health, social care, or related sector
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering engaging face‑to‑face training to mixed‑ability groups
  • Strong knowledge of mandatory care standards and best practice frameworks
  • Demonstrated expertise in training delivery across paediatric and adult care settings
  • Strong specialist knowledge in mental health, deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS), dementia, and learning disabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage at all levels
  • Exceptional organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Confident with technology and ability to manage training documentation and learning management systems
  • Current professional registration or membership relevant to your discipline (desirable but not essential)
  • Able to travel as required to support training delivery across UK Phoenix Healthcare locations
