About The Role
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible arrangement to be discussed)
Locations: Cambridge head office with regular travel across regional service locations and monthly attendance at head office located in Tamworth

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Registered Adult Nurse with substantial substance misuse specialism to join our expanding Community and Regional Services team. This is a Band 7 senior clinical position offering the opportunity to lead clinical delivery, manage care pathways, and support the development of our nursing and support staff across multiple regional locations.
You will oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and review of individualised care plans for service users with complex presentations including mental health conditions, substance misuse, clinical complexities, and co-occurring conditions. This role combines hands-on clinical nursing with strategic line management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Care Delivery
- Assess service users with complex presentations, formulating comprehensive recovery-focused care plans addressing psychological, physical, and social needs
- Deliver clinical interventions with specialist focus on substance misuse services, including knowledge of medication-assisted treatment and recovery pathways
- Monitor, evaluate, and review individual care plans regularly, involving service users and carers as key partners
- Provide evidence-based nursing care in community settings, including home visits and regional service locations
- Maintain therapeutic relationships and promote service user independence and recovery goals
- Administer and monitor prescribed medications, advising service users on safe administration and potential side effects
- Contribute to the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring continuity of care and collaborative working
- Jointly line manage Support Staff and Team Leaders across regional locations in partnership with the Operations team
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and developmental support to nursing and support staff
- Support the recruitment and induction of new team members
- Monitor team performance and compliance with professional standards
- Lead team meetings to discuss, report on, and evaluate service user care and team development
- Foster a supportive, clinically excellent working environment
- Coordinate rota management and ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Ensure care delivery meets expected standards and demonstrates best practice

Requirements
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) - Part 1 or Part 2 (Adult nursing)
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing (or equivalent recognized qualification)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Minimum 3 years post-registration experience as a Registered Adult Nurse
- Substantial and demonstrable experience working in substance misuse services
- Proven experience in community-based nursing and/or mental health settings
- Experience of assessing and managing complex clinical presentations
- Experience of care planning and therapeutic engagement with service users
- Evidence of line management or team leadership responsibilities
- Experience of working with diverse, vulnerable populations
- Experience working with young people aged 17+ and/or adults with multiple co-occurring conditions
Knowledge & Skills
- Sound clinical knowledge and understanding of substance misuse, mental health conditions, and recovery models
- Understanding of medication-assisted treatment pathways and associated nursing responsibilities
- Knowledge of current healthcare governance, risk management, clinical audit, and quality agendas
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Evidence-based practice approach with ability to translate research into clinical delivery
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and locations
- Strong organizational and time management skills

Desirable Criteria
- Post-registration specialist qualification in mental health nursing and/or substance misuse
- Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff

- Experience in commissioning or service development
- Previous experience working in health and social care partnerships
- Management or leadership development qualification
