Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Control Panel Technician to support the build, test, install and commission our PLC-based smart grid control systems across the UK. Full training will be provided on our proprietary control systems. Good foundational knowledge in electrical engineering, electrical installation, panel wiring or a related technical discipline is more important than prior PLC programming experience. You will work alongside experienced panel builders, automation engineers, control engineers and project engineers, developing the practical and technical skills required to become a well-rounded technician and a key part of the company’s growth. This role offers a clear development pathway, with structured training and support to help the successful candidate grow their technical capability across electrical panel build, testing, site installation, commissioning and smart grid control systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Wire control panels from electrical schematics and layout drawings
- Carry out the inspection and testing of control panels
- Support the installation, testing and commission grid control, protection and automation systems
- Produce commissioning records, test certificates and as-built documentation, with support from the wider engineering team
- Ensure all works comply with RAMS, CDM requirements and company procedures
- Some travel to customer sites across the UK (typically ~2 overnight stays per month)

Essential Qualifications & Certifications
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
- Full driving licence
