Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct general property maintenance, including carpentry, tiling, repairs to doors, windows and locking systems.
  • Move, lift and re-position furniture, equipment and heavy items as required.
  • Assemble furniture, shelving and other equipment.
  • Assist with small building or improvement projects when required.
  • Measure spaces, furniture or materials to support installations or design layouts.
  • Check for and report maintenance issues, such as leaks, damages or faults.
  • Assist with managing storage units and warehouse areas including moving items and logging equipment and belongings in and out.
  • Carry out basic carpentry tasks.
  • Install and repair gutter and drainpipe systems.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs.
  • Source and obtain materials from local suppliers.
  • Oversee the work of contractors when required.
  • Provide support to colleagues, including covering for absences and offering on-call assistance.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, nightshift pattern within the Maintenance Team during client occupations.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Any tasks or responsibilities as requested by management within the scope of the position.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools.
  • Expertise in one or more building trades such as carpentry, plastering, or tiling.
  • Hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Substantial proven experience in a similar role, with basic understanding of current Building Regulations.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • High practical ability and strong numeracy skills for measuring and making calculations.
  • Ability to competently drive any size van.
