Do you want to make a difference in Defence and help promote, protect, and restore the health of Service Personnel so they are ‘fit for task’? If you do, joining Defence Medical Services (DMS) will give you the opportunity to make a real difference by sourcing and managing contracts. These range from large service contracts for overseas healthcare and rehabilitation services to procuring equipment and research contracts.
The Strategic Command Commercial Team works closely with military and civilian colleagues across the UK to deliver innovative commercial solutions to Defence requirements. We support Defence by contracting a diverse portfolio of requirements, ranging from long-term commitments in specialist capability areas to low-value, short-term support contracts from a wide and varied supply base.
An exciting opportunity for a Commercial Officer to work within Defence Medical Services (DMS), delivering professional and effective commercial outputs to support a diverse customer base across three directorates. This role primarily involves sourcing, developing robust commercial strategies, leading end-to-end competitive and single-source procurements, developing and interpreting contract terms & conditions, and contract negotiations. There will also be opportunities to undertake effective commercial contract management and work under various regimes, including the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
We seek an adaptable, proactive Commercial Officer who can work collaboratively to build on their existing commercial skillset, including stakeholder management, leading procurements, and contract management.

Salary £29,580 + Commercial Market Skills Allowance (MSA) of £1,500 per annum once the essential criteria for this allowance are met. A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97% applies.
This position can be based out of DMS Lichfield, WS14 9PY. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees are expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office, subject to capacity and workplace adjustments. Attendance at other locations for official business or working in another MOD office will also count towards this requirement.
