Role Description
The Gas Membrane Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in St Neots, responsible for the installation and maintenance of gas and containment membrane systems on construction and civil engineering projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Preparing work areas
- Handling and positioning membranes
- Welding and sealing joints
- Installing associated protection layers in line with drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Carrying out quality checks
- Recording installation details for validation
- Working closely with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to ensure safe and efficient project delivery
The technician will be expected to operate tools and equipment safely, follow health and safety procedures, and contribute to a tidy and organized site. Travel to different project locations will be required, along with occasional early starts or extended hours to meet project deadlines and overnight stays.
Qualifications
- Experience in membrane installation, groundworks, or a related construction trade, ideally involving gas protection or containment systems.
- Practical skills in reading drawings, following method statements, and working accurately to technical specifications.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices on construction sites, including safe use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based team, communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors, and respond positively to instructions.
- Good physical fitness and readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including manual handling and tasks at ground level.
- Valid CSCS card or willingness to obtain one; NVQ or other relevant construction qualifications are highly beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to different project locations as required.
