Our responses are staffed from our Register of surge responders. Register members undergo extensive training and vetting in advance, so they can be quickly deployed to where they are most needed.
To strengthen our emergency response capacity, we are expanding our roster of Medical Coordinators to support future preparedness and response activities, including potential deployments to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other Francophone countries where operational needs arise.
We are seeking experienced Medical Coordinators who can lead, guide and monitor the overall implementation of clinical activities across our humanitarian responses. UK-Med deploys health teams and temporary health facilities to humanitarian settings around the world. Our Medical Coordinators work closely with clinical teams, national health authorities, partners and other national and international stakeholders to ensure that healthcare services are relevant, technically sound and delivered to a consistently high standard.
You will provide technical oversight of the medical response, including clinical activities, advisory support, training and case management. You will ensure that all activities follow appropriate clinical standards, protocols and infection prevention and control measures, particularly within Ebola and other infectious disease response settings.
You will be a skilled manager and technical supervisor who can support multidisciplinary clinical teams and enable colleagues to perform effectively in complex, dynamic and potentially insecure environments. You will be accountable for key programmatic areas and will have strong experience in assessing health needs and designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating healthcare activities.
Our ideal candidates will have significant experience coordinating emergency health programmes in field-based humanitarian settings. Experience in Ebola, viral haemorrhagic fever, infectious disease outbreaks or related emergency responses would be highly advantageous. You will also be confident building effective working relationships with Ministries of Health, local health authorities, humanitarian partners and other key stakeholders.
You will be determined, high-performing, compassionate and collaborative, with a strong commitment to learning and supporting others to develop. Professional working proficiency in both French and English is essential for this role.
