Job Purpose
The Teaching Enhancement Quality Assurance Lead will provide strategic leadership for teaching quality, classroom observation, mentoring, and academic compliance across the UKMC Group. The role ensures that academic delivery consistently meets institutional, partner, and regulatory standards, while driving continuous improvement in teaching practice and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for teaching enhancement and quality assurance, ensuring academic delivery, session reporting, and classroom practice consistently meet institutional and regulatory standards.
- Lead and manage a structured classroom observation schedule across campuses, ensuring observations are completed within required timeframes.
- Conduct developmental classroom observations and deliver detailed, constructive feedback to lecturers to support measurable improvement in teaching quality and student engagement.
- Design, implement, and oversee a structured mentoring and coaching programme to enhance teaching skills, professional development, and fellowship progression.
- Drive pedagogical innovation and the adoption of advanced teaching methods that improve student engagement, inclusivity, and academic performance.
- Oversee quality assurance checks of session reports, assessment practices, and teaching documentation, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards and academic integrity.
- Analyse student feedback, progression data, and quality metrics to evaluate the impact of teaching initiatives and inform targeted improvement strategies.
- Provide specialist guidance on quality assurance, regulatory compliance, safeguarding, and data protection in academic practice.
- Collaborate with the Dean and academic leadership teams to identify training needs and deliver structured CPD programmes across departments.
- Support lecturers in aligning teaching materials and assessments with national curriculum standards and sector best practice.
- Lead and influence change across academic teams, promoting a proactive, solution-focused culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Represent the College in internal and external quality reviews, contributing to institutional planning and ensuring provision exceeds partner and regulatory expectations.
- Undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by the line manager, commensurate with the level of the post.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Higher Education, Education, or a related field, plus a recognised UK HE teaching qualification.
- Fellowship of Advance HE (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe.
- Substantial experience in UK Higher Education at Associate Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Professor level.
- Strong record of teaching excellence and curriculum delivery.
- Proven experience of conducting structured classroom observations and providing developmental feedback.
- In-depth understanding of UK HE regulatory frameworks (OfS, awarding bodies, and quality assurance processes).
- Experience leading mentoring, coaching, and CPD initiatives to enhance teaching capability and professional practice.
- Ability to analyse student feedback, progression data, and quality metrics to drive measurable improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and deliver constructive feedback.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage cross-campus responsibilities and competing priorities.
- High attention to detail, ensuring compliance, safeguarding, and academic integrity.
- Commitment to inclusivity, professionalism, and flexibility to travel between UKMC campuses and work occasional evenings or weekends.
