The Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality and Compliance Officer to support the effective delivery of compliance, governance, and risk management activities across the organisation. The role involves maintaining oversight of compliance systems and reporting, supporting adherence to statutory and regulatory frameworks (including OfS requirements where applicable), and contributing to audit, risk management, and business continuity processes. You will work collaboratively across teams to embed compliance practices and ensure organisational standards are maintained and continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Risk Coordination
    • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance frameworks and policies
    • Maintain accurate records and evidence to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements
    • Support regulatory submissions (including OfS where applicable), ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
    • Assist with internal audits, reviews, and risk assessments to identify gaps and improvements
  • Governance
    • Support governance structures, including servicing committees and meetings
    • Manage systems (e.g. SharePoint) for storing, tracking, and reporting compliance documentation
    • Produce clear and concise reports highlighting key findings, risks, and operational themes
  • Project and Systems Support
    • Apply project management approaches to support compliance-related initiatives
    • Assist with system improvements, process mapping, and workflow efficiencies
    • Support the integration of compliance practices across departments
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with academic and professional services teams to promote a culture of compliance
    • Communicate complex regulatory information clearly to non-specialist audiences
    • Support delivery of projects and ensure deadlines are met
    • Represent the department at internal and external meetings when required
    • Work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse range of colleagues
  • Professional Development and Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory frameworks and developments in compliance and risk management
    • Contribute to improving compliance tools, processes, and reporting methods
    • Provide support to other departments on quality and compliance matters when required

About You

Essential

  • Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and governance principles
  • Knowledge of project management approaches (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, or similar)
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team or matrix environment
  • Experience managing administrative or reporting processes with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and present complex information clearly
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and solution-focused approach

Desirable

  • Qualification or training in compliance, risk management, or project management
  • Familiarity with UK higher education regulatory frameworks (e.g. OfS)
  • Experience in a regulated or higher education environment
  • Experience supporting audits or compliance activities
  • Experience using systems such as SharePoint, Power BI, or similar tools
