Job Purpose

The Disability Inclusion Officer plays a central role in promoting accessibility, equality, and inclusion for students and staff with disabilities or long-term health conditions across all UK Management College campuses. This role ensures compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and supports the implementation of reasonable adjustments, inclusive learning practices, and disability-related components of the Temporary Learning Agreement and Learning Support Plans (TLA, LSP) process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact for all disability-related support enquiries and assessments for students and staff.
  • Coordinate and review reasonable adjustments and assistive technology provisions.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate records of students and staff registered with disabilities, ensuring full compliance with GDPR.
  • Contribute to the design, review, and monitoring of TLA LSPs for students with disability-related learning needs.
  • Collaborate with academic, administrative, and estates teams to ensure accessibility in learning, digital systems, and physical spaces.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching, disability awareness, and accessibility compliance.
  • Work closely with the Wellbeing Officer, campus co-ordinator, academic service, student success tutor to ensure joined‑up support across wellbeing and inclusion services.
  • Coordinate the creation, record‑keeping, and annual review of Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for students and staff with mobility, sensory, or medical needs.
  • Ensure that PEEP documentation is securely stored, regularly updated, and communicated to relevant teams (e.g., Estates, Fire Safety Officers, and HR).
  • Conduct risk assessments where necessary and support the implementation of agreed evacuation strategies.
  • Promote disability awareness and inclusion through workshops, campaigns, and training sessions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disability support and report progress to the Wellbeing Lead.
  • Ensure compliance with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Health & Safety frameworks within the college’s quality assurance processes.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in disability support, inclusion services, or student well‑being.
  • Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive education practices.
  • Familiarity with Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) and health & safety requirements for disabled individuals.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and record‑keeping skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Collaborative approach to working with academic, estates, and HR departments.
  • Experience in higher or further education settings.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology, accessibility audits, or inclusive digital design.
  • Experience liaising with external disability or occupational health services.
