I am recruiting a Lighting Sales Engineer for our UK Lighting Design brand within the Edmundson & Electric Center Central Region. Serving the lighting requirements for End Users & Contractors within the M40, M1, M3 & M4 corridors. Providing exemplary lighting packages to our varied customer base offering products from our preferred supplier partners tailored to suit the needs of our customers. This is a face to face sales role. While experience within Lighting Design is advantageous it is not essential. This role is primarily sales focused; the ability to build rapport with customers face‑to‑face and provide exemplary service is what we are looking for in the successful candidate.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Site visits, surveys and providing quotations: conduct on‑site surveys and assessments to determine existing conditions, provide technical advice and ensure offers are build‑able and meet project requirements.
- Documentation: prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, luminaire schedules and bills of quantities.
- Compliance & standards: ensure all designs meet relevant national and European standards, guidelines, legislation and energy‑efficiency targets (e.g., DMRB for highways projects).
- Collaboration: work closely with clients, sales teams, contractors and multi‑disciplinary design teams (e.g., mechanical and electrical engineers) to ensure project coordination and client requirements are met.
- Project management of orders: assist in planning, organising and overseeing projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Problem solving & technical support: analyse engineering problems, develop innovative solutions and provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and customers.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Proven track record of lighting sales within the UK.
- Technical knowledge: strong understanding of electrical design principles, lighting control systems (DALI, DMX, etc.) and lighting maintenance operations.
- Software proficiency: basic competency with lighting design and CAD software (Relux, DIALux, AutoCAD).
- Qualifications: a qualification in an electrical or building‑services discipline is preferred.
- Membership/registration with a professional body such as the Institute of Lighting Professionals (ILP) or the Engineering Council is highly valued, with the ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma commonly required for highway roles.
- Soft skills: excellent communication, time‑management, collaboration and organisational skills.
- Driving licence: a full UK driving licence is required for site visits.
