We work on behalf of the five Football Associations and in close partnership with governments, host cities, stadiums and communities to ensure the tournament is delivered to world-class standards.
About UEFA EURO 2028: The UEFA European Championship is one of the world’s biggest sporting events. In 2028 it will take place across the UK & Ireland, bringing significant operational scale and requiring close coordination between host cities, stadiums, government partners and UEFA.
The Role: As Senior Overlay Manager, you will lead the strategic planning and delivery of all UK & Ireland overlay infrastructure across the tournament footprint. This includes temporary structures and installations that support safe operations, clear wayfinding, secure perimeters and high-quality venue presentation. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be the UK & Ireland lead for overlay, ensuring consistency, compliance and operational excellence across multiple venues, including stadia and team training facilities. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who combines strong technical expertise with calm leadership, sound judgement and the ability to coordinate delivery across multiple partners.
What you’ll be doing:
- Planning & Design: Developing comprehensive overlay plans aligned to tournament requirements and venue conditions. Working closely with internal teams to align overlay solutions with operational needs and tournament objectives. Reviewing venue layouts, site plans and technical drawings to ensure accurate allocation of temporary infrastructure.
- Venue & Infrastructure Delivery: Designing and delivering high-quality overlay solutions across stadiums, training grounds and other official sites. Ensuring compliance with local authority, safety and approval requirements in collaboration with safety, security and venue teams. Embedding health and safety considerations into all stages of planning and delivery. Ensuring visual consistency and quality across all overlay elements. Sourcing, appointing and managing overlay suppliers and contractors. Defining scopes of work, deliverables, timelines and quality standards. Leading contractor performance across multiple venues.
- Budget & Logistics: Managing overlay budgets, tracking expenditure and identifying efficiencies where appropriate. Coordinating logistics, storage, maintenance and inventory of overlay materials. Producing detailed installation plans for use by UK & Ireland and UEFA venue teams. Reconciling supplier invoices and managing delivery within agreed budgets.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience planning and delivering overlay for major events or complex, multi-site programmes.
- A strong understanding of temporary facilities and infrastructure requirements.
- Experience leading contractors and suppliers across multiple locations.
- Strong project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence working with budgets, suppliers and delivery schedules.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel across the UK & Ireland as required.
Values and Behaviours:
- Embrace the Opportunity: Creates strategic space for innovation. Role models adaptability in response to uncertainty. Monitors performance and ensures continuous improvement. Aligns team activity to wider organisational goals.
- Thrive Together: Influences cross-functional relationships positively. Champions diversity and inclusive leadership.
Why apply? We offer a competitive salary (plus benefits of 25 days holiday, contributory pension, Private Medical Insurance etc), coupled with the opportunity to be part of one of the biggest sporting events ever to take place across the UK & Ireland – an exciting place to be!
Where is the role based? Contractually based at our head office in the iconic Wembley Stadium in London. Employees are expected to work in the office at least three days a week during 2026-2027, increasing to full-time in 2028.
