Health & Safety and Technical Approval Manager

The Role

The Health & Safety and Technical Approval Manager for UEFA EURO 2028 will be part of the local organising entity UK & Ireland 2028 and will be responsible for

Health & Safety: planning, implementation and documentation of occupational Health and Safety according to CDM and local regulations for all EURO venues in UK and Ireland (tournament venues as well as the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and Final Draw venues;

Technical Approval: ensuring that all event related technical approvals, consents and safety certificates will be obtained in time for each event at every venue;

The position will act as main communication hub between UKI, UEFA and all relevant local authorities for all matters regarding Health & Safety and Technical Approval Process.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Act as main communication hub between UKI, UEFA and all relevant local authorities for all matters regarding the cooperation on the provision of Health & Safety procedures and Technical Approval Processes.
  • Drafts and aligns the H&S and Technical Approval Process with all involved stakeholders and local authorities across all venues including the IBC and the Final Draw.
  • Leads the procurement of the Principal Designer (PD) and Principal Contractor (PC) for venue works executed by UKI and UEFA and their respective appointed suppliers, resulting in a tripartite contract.
  • Ensures that appointed duty holders are aware of and carry out their duties in managing the project works.
  • Collates, reviews and submits documents required as per CDM and any other local regulations provided by UKI and UEFA and their appointed suppliers.

Including sharing them with relevant counterparts at stadiums and local authorities, initiating a feedback loop that delivers timely approvals.

  • Organises and participates in regular meetings with local authorities, appointed suppliers, UKI and UEFA, including but limited to official venue site visits.
  • Ensures that project milestones are delivered on time.
  • Coordinates suppliers, including their onsite H&S compliance performance.
  • Works closely with internal and external project leaders and the venues.
  • Ensures that the H&S projects are delivered within the agreed budget.
  • Leads and supervises the invoicing process and gives continuous feedback to senior management, with regular budget updates.
  • Follows up with all stakeholders on potential changes of service levels required, initiates and documents amendments accordingly.
  • Ensures that general administrational processes, reporting, knowledge management and debriefing processes are followed and delivered to the highest standard.
  • Provides detailed briefings and constant support to the venue implementation teams (Venue TECH managers) during setup, tournament time and dismantling periods.
  • Undertakes a full and thorough project debrief.
  • What we’re looking for

Essential experience and skills

  • Proven experience working in event production.
  • Proven experience in occupational safety, technical approval process according to CDM and other applicable regulations incorporate, industrial or sports events in UK and Ireland.
  • Elaborating strategies and concepts.
  • Proactive and self‑driven.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Willing to travel regularly.
  • Extensive experience working in teams.
  • NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals (or the newer NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma) or equivalent.
  • A working knowledge of CDM regulations in an event related scenario.
  • MS Office (especially Excel and Share Point) advanced.
  • MS Project or similar, basic.
  • Project Management, advanced.
  • Location & Working Pattern

Based at Wembley Stadium, with travel across the UK & Ireland as required.

  • 2026: 3 days/week onsite
  • 2027: 3–4 days/week onsite
  • 2028: Full-time onsite during tournament delivery
