The predicted salary is between 53267 - 62599 £ per year.

Location: Central London, with travel to other UK locations expected on a weekly basis. This role qualifies for a specialist capability‑based pay approach. After assessment at interview, the salary may rise to £62,599. To retain the higher salary, employees must demonstrate and accredit the required skills against the Cyber Technical Framework within the first year; otherwise the pay may revert to the lower end of the range. Progression within the pay range is possible as skills develop.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure and manage remote infrastructure such as firewalls, routers, switches and servers.
  • Investigate technical issues and work closely with internal stakeholders to meet their unique requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of automation systems and support the administration of a multi‑vendor environment.
  • Undertake individual project work in relevant technical areas, aligned with team priorities.
  • Optional on‑call rota and coverage when the team is short‑staffed.
  • Collaborate with industry colleagues and attend international events such as conferences.

About You

  • Extensive experience in network engineering within a technical industry environment, with a strong foundation in designing network solutions for large‑scale, mission‑critical infrastructure.
  • Network design, architecture and transmission technologies, supporting resilient and high‑performance network solutions.
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, including protocols, MAC and IP addressing, BGP and VPNs.
  • Fibre optic networking – practical experience of wavelengths, multiplexing (MUX), transponders and long‑haul transmission technologies.
  • Automation, scripting and systems administration on GNU/Linux operating systems, with tools such as Ansible and scripting languages (Bash, Python).
  • Practical experience configuring and managing network devices in live environments, applying secure operations and supporting complex infrastructures.
  • An enthusiasm for cyber and global datacentre interconnection is required, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Proven problem‑solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate network concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working on cross‑functional projects.
  • Physical requirement: ability to lift, carry and move equipment; a fitness assessment will be carried out by occupational health as part of the application process.
