We’re excited to welcome a new Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) Partner to our dynamic team within the People Division at UKHO. As an L&OD Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the learning and skills provision that enables UKHO to meet the needs of today—and anticipate the demands of tomorrow. You’ll collaborate across the organisation to:

This job role can be worked on a hybrid basis, which is an informal, non‑contractual and voluntary arrangement, working between the office in Taunton and remotely within the UK. Office attendance is expected a minimum 60% of the time dependant on business requirements.
Develop deep understanding of UKHO culture, ways of working, business priorities, and workforce needs to inform targeted L&OD interventions with measurable impact. Provide expert internal consultancy to leaders and managers on people‑centred L&OD solutions, including talent management, team effectiveness, and skills and capability. Embed and manage The UKHO Way and aligned employee experience through programmes, tools, and collaboration with stakeholders and networks. Lead leadership and management development by designing and delivering evolving a curriculum, including coaching, mentoring, and line manager orientation. Oversee enterprise learning provision and capability building, managing external training providers, budgets, and digital learning solutions aligned with workforce plans. Drive high performance and talent management best practice enterprise‑wide, ensuring alignment with professions, to meet the requirements of the strategic workforce plan. Chair the Culture Champions network to promote OD and culture best practices across the organisation. Provide leadership within the People and L&OD teams, fostering collaboration, coaching, performance management, and alignment with The UKHO Way.
Person specification
- Experience of working in a Learning and Organisational Development (OD) role in a complex organisation.
- Proven experience translating learning theory into effective, inclusive and value for money learning solutions for diverse audiences, with expertise in designing, delivering and evaluating interventions at both strategic and operational levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in organisational development and large‑scale culture and behaviour change, using business and behavioural insights to shape, deliver and measure impact.
- Skilled in applying OD tools and methodologies (e.g. systems thinking, diagnostics, cultural enquiry, psychometrics and deep dive analysis) within complex environments.
- Strong influencing, engagement and internal consultancy skills, with the credibility to work effectively with senior leaders and across the organisation.
- Sound knowledge of leadership and management development best practice, with practical experience of applying this effectively in workplace settings.
- Experience of aligning to and implementing professions and career frameworks and delivering talent development interventions aligned to a Strategic Workforce Plan.
- Experience of leading and managing teams or project groups within matrix structures, fostering collaboration across functions and balancing competing priorities.
