The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counterterrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. Migration and Borders Digital (MBD) is part of the Home Office Digital (HOD) Directorate in the Home Office. MBD is a Portfolio of around 3,500 dedicated professionals made up of civil servants and suppliers working together to develop some of the most challenging and transformative technology products, supporting critical programmes within the Migration and Borders system.
Working closely with colleagues in the Migration and Borders mission, we also support a number of the Home Office's capabilities such as Customer Services, Immigration Enforcement and Border Force. We jointly design services, build, run and sustain them to enable some of the government’s most important strategic outcomes, notably the legitimate movement of people and goods to support economic prosperity.
The Immigration Enforcement Technology Delivery Centre is recruiting for a Senior Technology Delivery Manager to join the team to lead on project and product delivery. Where business needs allow some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Where this is the case, employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office.
What you will do:
- Take responsibility for delivery of technology products and services, facilitating and coaching teams in using the most appropriate methodologies in complex, ambiguous situations.
- Facilitate structured approaches to problem-solving and competing user needs, continuously improving processes and performance.
- Create and maintain realistic plans, keeping delivery on track within quality, cost, and time constraints.
- Remove blockers to success, managing stakeholders and engaging with governance as appropriate.
- Develop motivated, functioning teams, empowering collaboration and delivery while giving direction and constructive feedback.
- Monitor the profile and health of teams and work with them to resolve issues.
- Ensure that risks are identified, understood, and mitigated, involving specialists where necessary.
- Manage engagement with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collect and use feedback to measure, develop and enhance stakeholder relationships and resolve issues.
- Act as a routine contact point for various stakeholders such as suppliers and operational colleagues in customer-facing environments.
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring close collaboration with business stakeholders to help to resolve problems with suppliers and deliver frontline services aligning with business and user needs.
What you will bring:
- Leading teams in different delivery approaches, such as Agile and Waterfall, guiding them in implementing the most appropriate methodology for the situation, while continuously reflecting and challenging them to inspect and improve processes.
- Facilitating teams in the delivery of technology products and services throughout their lifecycle.
- Creating the best team makeup for the situation, bringing people together into a motivated team, identifying and rectifying issues in the team dynamic.
- Identifying, prioritising and managing risks, issues and dependencies.
- Communicating and mediating between technical and non-technical stakeholders, managing stakeholder expectations, resolving issues and improving relationships.
- Monitoring the performance of suppliers and acting as a point of contact with them.
- Demonstrating knowledge of, or holding a qualification in, a recognised delivery methodology (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, Prince2).
