Overview
As a Business Architect on our Police & Public Protection Technology (PPPT) portfolio, you’ll collaborate across the Home Office to align strategy, transformation and operations, ensuring our services keep citizens safe and the country secure. Using frameworks such as Bizbok alongside techniques like capability mapping, process mapping and operating model design, you’ll bring structure to complexity and create a shared view that enables better decisions.
Your work will range from shaping organisational design and guiding digital portfolio delivery to developing common standards, tools and approaches that keep business and technology aligned. Alongside a supportive architecture community, you’ll mentor colleagues, share knowledge and foster collaboration.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain business architecture artefacts (e.g., capability models, value streams) that clarify complex issues and guide change initiatives.
- Influence portfolio/programme delivery, shaping priorities and aligning solutions with strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with technical architects, ensuring alignment between business needs and technology roadmaps.
- Modelling complex processes/procedures using established techniques with understanding of their purpose and importance.
- Lead or support workshops on organisational design, capturing insights that inform strategy, solution development, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and update a central knowledgebase of standards, tools, and best practices, promoting consistency across teams.

- Business Architecture Frameworks – Skilled in recognised standards (e.g., Bizbok) to model capabilities, value streams and operating models with clarity and consistency.
- Strategic Alignment – Able to bridge business and IT, translating strategic objectives into practical plans and solutions.
- Change & Delivery – Experienced in guiding transformation, assessing risks and shaping investments to drive adoption and stakeholder confidence.
- Analytical Thinking – Strong at breaking down complexity, identifying patterns and producing evidence-based recommendations for senior decisions.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Effective at presenting complex information, building consensus and balancing competing priorities.
- Leadership & Mentorship – Proven in coaching colleagues, fostering collaboration and embedding business architecture best practice.
Additional Information
This role requires SC clearance. To meet national security vetting requirements, you typically need to have been resident in the UK for at least three years. Unfortunately, we cannot offer sponsorship.
