The Chief Operating Officer Group works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The group is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.

The Home Office Commercial team is part way through a programme of change which has seen us recruiting across all grades. These roles could be of interest to commercial professionals with procurement experience and expertise or contract managers who are looking to broaden their commercial skills in a central commercial function or to existing commercial staff who would enjoy taking on a new role.

  • Proven experience in procurement and/or contract management, with strong understanding of commercial best practice.
  • Experience of end‑to‑end tendering, with robust knowledge of Public Contract Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Practical experience of e‑sourcing systems supporting compliant commercial activity.
  • Strong understanding of the full commercial lifecycle, from sourcing through to contract management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
  • Demonstrable drive to innovate and improve value from commercial agreements.
  • Sound understanding of contract terms and conditions, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers to deliver outcomes.
