If this sounds like you, we have an exciting opportunity to join our Tesco Strategic Account team as a Retail Merchandising Manager. Reporting to the Strategic Account Director, this is a wide-ranging, commercially focused and customer-facing role where you’ll partner closely with Tesco to deliver operational excellence.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with advanced Excel and strong analytical skills, combined with exceptional attention to detail. Experience in retail merchandising within a grocery retailer would be a significant advantage.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead planning, trading, and forecasting in partnership with Tesco, ensuring alignment with commercial goals.
  • Develop stock strategies, working closely with Category Management, the Business Manager, Merchant Planner, Customer Operations, and the Seasonal Inventory team, to ensure accurate stock builds and minimise waste.
  • Identify and assess all relevant factors, internal and external, with clear assumptions and contingency plans to successfully deliver against agreed plans.
  • Communicate plans clearly to internal and external stakeholders to achieve agreed KPIs.
  • Deliver the Trade Plan through regular performance analysis and evaluation to maximise sales.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to collaboratively deliver KPIs.
  • Identify and evaluate future strategic opportunities to drive customer sales and profitability.
  • Define and set the Tesco Joint Business Plan alongside the Strategic Account Director and Business Manager.
  • Calculate seasonal buys and store allocations, working closely with the customer to ensure margin targets are met.

Experience and skills required for this role:

  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, working collaboratively with both internal and external partners.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to influence business decisions that drive profit growth.
  • Deep understanding of retail planning processes and the ability to influence both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and developing a small team.
  • Proficient with Alteryx and Tableau (preferred but not essential).
  • Retail merchandising experience, ideally within a grocery retailer.

  • Contribute to the account’s profit and loss, understanding how your decisions impact both finances and operations.
  • Experience and skills required for this role:
