UK Green Building Council is the industry network with a mission to radically transform the built environment in the face of the climate and nature crises. We champion bold government action and convene the ambitious sections of industry to drive progress at pace and scale. This is an opportunity for an events specialist to play a role at the forefront of tackling the climate and nature crises and to protect communities.

The role supports the scoping and delivery of UKGBC conferences and events in London and throughout the UK and supports new ways to convene and engage our members. This role is ideal for an early career level candidate with a can-do attitude, looking to strengthen their portfolio and increase their knowledge of sustainability in a mission-led organisation. The position reports directly to the Associate Director of Membership, Marketing and Communications and offers the opportunity to rapidly develop and enhance skills in a range of areas including project management and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in the marketing, communication and education activity of UKGBC, which has become widely regarded in the sector. The role also allows the holder to develop their own broad insight and knowledge through working collaboratively across the whole organisation with a passionate and knowledgeable team of colleagues.

Key responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate the delivery of UKGBC’s Events Programme, including major UKGBC convening events and conferences.
  • Focus on event formatting regarding conference, exhibition, facilities and other event requirements.
  • Co-ordinate activities of facilitators and speakers, venues, catering and AV equipment hire ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and other statutory regulations.
  • Coordinate virtual and hybrid events; seeking new platforms, delivering polished online events, and being the first point of contact and host for in-person events.
  • Ensure systems are updated to track key contacts and event delegates, and secure and analyse feedback from delegates after events.
  • Support and advocate use of guidance and best practices toolkits across the organisation.
  • Work with administrative support and colleagues to ensure streamlined and efficient event planning.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure events are marketed via all relevant channels.
  • Liaise with event sponsors/partners to ensure realisation of agreed sponsor benefits.
  • Consult events budgets to ensure all events are delivered to budget and at the requisite quality level.
  • Undertake key administrative tasks associated with mail software, eventbrite, etc.
  • Assist with periodic reporting of events performance against KPIs for the Leadership Team.

People requirements:

  • Event planning and co-ordination: Proven events, conference, exhibition and/or learning programme delivery skills.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Some experience of client/customer relationship management.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Budgeting: Good financial tracking skills.
  • Project management: Efficient planning, organisational, and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy: Substantial knowledge and experience of standard software packages including Microsoft Office and webinar hosting platforms.
  • Mission: A passion for tackling the climate, nature and cost of living crises, and a commitment to UKGBC’s mission.

Terms and conditions:

  • Place of Work: UKGBC London offices with remote working in place. Regular UK travel required.
  • Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week (flexible options available with agreement).
