We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in supporting the smooth running of core finance processes in a collaborative and well-governed environment.
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you’ll help ensure financial records are accurate, transactions are processed efficiently, and month-end processes run seamlessly. This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career who is keen to develop their skills and grow within a supportive team.
Key responsibilities:
- Process journals, accruals, and prepayments in line with finance procedures
- Support month-end activities, including reconciliations and ledger maintenance
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records and audit trails
- Manage and respond to finance inbox queries, resolving or escalating as needed
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance team
- Assist with reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential skills and experience:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Desirable:
- Experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
- Familiarity with finance systems (e.g. Oracle Fusion or similar ERP systems)
- AAT qualification (or currently working towards one)
