Overview

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at HMP Portland, a category C adult male and YOI prison. Join a team that is more than just a group of colleagues – we work Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe and nurturing environment.

As a Painter & Decorator you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other trade professionals to maintain the aesthetic and safety standards of the prison facilities.
  • Carry out painting and decorating tasks efficiently and safely, adhering to health & safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all work is completed on time and to required quality.

Qualifications

  • A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent (or significant experience/time served in a similar role).
  • Experience working in a maintenance team.
  • An honest and reliable character, who can approach their work with a sense of purpose and pace.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
