Ambulance Care Assistant

A new position is available for this vacancy. To be considered, you must attend a 1-week Induction Training course, running from 9am to 5pm daily. The venue is yet to be confirmed. Attendance at training will be paid at £12.21 per hour.

  • Hours: 40 hours per week. The role operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Initially, a zero-hours contract is offered. Applicants must be available to work some weekends and public holidays.

The job

Our Ambulance Care Assistants (ACAs) are caring, compassionate, and friendly, playing a key role in the safe and comfortable transportation of non-emergency patients to and from hospitals or care facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Driving ambulances and specialist vehicles
  • Providing reassurance, comfort, and support to patients
  • Conducting patient and vehicle risk assessments
  • Using mechanical and manual handling skills for patient movement, tail lifts, and wheelchair systems
  • Communicating with control centres
  • Cleaning and restocking vehicles
  • Completing reports and documentation accurately

About you

Our ACAs come from diverse backgrounds, including care, retail, entertainment, customer service, and hospitality. Key qualities include empathy, kindness, a positive and adaptable attitude, strong work ethic, teamwork, clear and confident communication, and effective listening skills. Formal qualifications are not required as training is provided. A full, clean driving license is necessary.
