Are you a qualified and experienced planner looking for a role where you will lead the design and delivery of our Scottish Government fish farm consenting projects?
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Marine Directorate for a Principal Planner. The Marine Directorate's work focuses on managing Scotland's vast and rich marine environment, supporting the industries operating within it, while ensuring proper protections are in place for marine species. Scottish aquaculture is valued at £337m GVA and employs approximately 12,000 people across farms and supply chains. This role will support sustainable development through delivering an improved consenting framework aligned with the Scottish Government's Vision for Sustainable Aquaculture (July 2023).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of fish farming consenting processes, working with external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with local authority Aquaculture planning departments to identify efficiencies and support alignment with Scotland's Environment Protection Agency.
- Contribute to the development of spatial planning policies with the Marine Directorate, including National and Regional Marine Plan teams.
