An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the growing Carbon Net Zero Team and help shape the sustainability performance of a world-class institution. The team is based within the Estates and Campus Facilities Division which has responsibility for looking after the university buildings and infrastructure.

The Energy Officer will support the work of the Energy Manager and wider Carbon Net Zero team to reduce energy consumption and optimise building energy performance. They will be responsible for managing the University's metering assets and the proactive monitoring, analysing and reporting of energy data to identify, investigate and quantify opportunities for energy and carbon savings.

The post holder will develop and deliver presentations, briefings and reports to recommend energy saving activities. They will also instruct and guide staff and students towards positive energy saving and behavioural practices. There will be the need to work closely and build effective relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The Carbon Net Zero Team are a major contributor to delivering on the University's commitment to be net zero carbon for scope 1 and 2 by 2030. This role will be pivotal in helping the university reduce its carbon emissions.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have:

  • A Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience
  • Substantial experience of working within energy/utility management, including practical experience and technical knowledge of utility metering, utility management software and the principles of building optimisation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; skilled in gathering and interpreting complex data, preparing clear reports, and using MS Office; particularly Excel at an advanced level.

This post is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years.
