University College London (UCL) is a multi-disciplinary university with a population of over 13,000 staff and 38,000 students from 150 different countries. UCL Faculty of Arts and Humanities comprises ten academic departments that undertake research and teaching across a wide range of disciplines.
This is a 12-month fixed term role, in the first instance, beginning on 3 August 2026. This role is available for Secondment for UCL Employees. The role is a key point of interface between the Faculty, academic departments and UCL’s central Communications and Marketing function, supporting the delivery of the Faculty’s marketing, communications and student recruitment strategy through high-quality digital content and website management.
Principal duties relate to the UCL Faculty of Arts and Humanities and include responsibilities to:
- Manage and maintain the Faculty’s website, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, accessible and optimised for search engines, user experience and AI best practice.
- Produce and deliver high-quality, audience-focused digital content (news stories, blogs, case studies, video and multimedia) aligned with brand and recruitment objectives.
- Use analytics, data insights and user testing to evaluate performance and inform continuous improvement of digital content and website development.
The role would suit a digitally focused communications professional with strong editorial skills, who can contribute to the Faculty’s content strategy, ensure best practice in digital content design and accessibility, and respond to evolving digital priorities for the Faculty and its audiences.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- Professional background in multichannel digital content and communications.
- Experience of managing and maintaining website content using CMS platforms and using analytics tools, data dashboards and performance metrics.
- Proven ability to implement strategies relating to digital marketing and to introduce innovations.
- Ability to build productive relationships and networks with academic and professional services colleagues at all levels.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and best-practice frameworks, including GDPR, accessibility standards and the UK higher education context, alongside a commitment to inclusive and accessible communications.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
