Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience. The Access and Widening Participation Office leads on the development and implementation of UCL’s strategies to widen access to UCL from underrepresented groups. The Data and Impact team is responsible for assessing the impact of UCL’s Access and Participation activity through research, evaluation, identifying trends, and the preparation of data for internal and external reporting across Access, Widening Participation, Student Funding and Student Success areas at UCL.
About the role
- To work closely with the Student Success team to design and implement robust evaluation approaches with colleagues across the institution, particularly developing evaluation of post‑entry activity (with current students) using existing protocols, frameworks and sector best practice.
- To develop new ways to engage a wider range of colleagues, communicating the growing evidence base, enabling reflective practice and ensure learning from evaluation is embedded into project design (including updating Theories of Change).
- To look to improve reporting, including the commissioning of research and publishing evaluation findings.
- To be responsible for managing the collection, collation and analysis of data related to Student Success work and to work closely with counterparts in Access and Student Funding to evidence, measure and demonstrate the impact of UCL's Access and Participation Plan.
About you
- Qualifications commensurate with education to A Level or equivalent, including proficiency in English and Mathematics.
- Experience of producing reports based on understanding and manipulating complex statistical data.
- Experience of implementing systems to measure and demonstrate the impact of activities.
- Substantial experience of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Experience of working collaboratively within a complex organisation.
- Knowledge of statistical IT software.
- Experienced evaluation professional, including experience of designing, managing and implementing projects to evaluate success and impact of activities.
- Knowledge and understanding of evaluation and research methods and methodologies.
