Behavioural Science and Early Diagnosis of Cancer Group
Our group has expertise in understanding uptake of cancer screening (focusing on colorectal and cervical screening), communication and decision-making in screening, measuring patient experiences, and assessing knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about cancer. Our research projects are supported by competitively acquired funding by NIHR, Cancer Research UK, and the International Cancer Alliance for Early Detection of Cancer.
About the role
This role is part of the CRUK funded Bowel-Star project and offers the opportunity to work across a multi-method, interdisciplinary programme. You’ll help shape the future of cancer screening by identifying acceptability of using a combination of individual factors determining bowel cancer risk and how these can be used to offer a more personalised cancer screening experience. This is an open-ended contract with fixed-term funding until 30th of April 2029 in the first instance. Appointment will be for a Research Assistance Grade 6b: £39,807 - £42,891 incl London Allowance. This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff.
About you
You will be a highly qualified Health Psychology researcher with an MSc in Health Psychology and extensive experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of health research studies. Expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, survey development (including Qualtrics), cognitive interviewing techniques, and living systematic reviews. Strong subject knowledge in cancer early detection, health inequalities, and bowel cancer screening, alongside experience working within large multidisciplinary and multi-institutional research collaborations. Enthusiastic educator with excellent communication, teamwork, and project coordination skills.
