UCL’s Campus Experience and Infrastructure and Estates Development team is responsible for one of the most diverse and complex university estates in the UK. Spanning more than 240 buildings across Bloomsbury and UCL East, the estate supports world-leading research, teaching, student life and innovation. About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join our Estates team, supporting the delivery of a varied portfolio of capital projects across the university estate. The role will involve managing projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring delivery against key safety, quality, programme and budget objectives, while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder engagement throughout. Projects range from refurbishment and adaptation works through to major strategic developments within complex, occupied environments. A key focus of this role will be supporting major programme activity including the Oriel Project and the Institute of Neurology (IoN) DRI programme, amongst others. Initially, the successful candidate will work closely on the completion and handover phase of the Oriel Project, helping to ensure a smooth operational transition and the successful close-out of project activities.

We are hence seeking candidates with both project delivery experience as well as specialist focus on the soft landings processes and with demonstrable experience in working with vast user groups to work towards operational readiness alongside construction practical completion. The experience, knowledge and lessons learned through this process will then be applied across the IoN DRI programme and wider Estates portfolio, helping to embed best practice approaches to project handover, operational readiness and stakeholder integration across multiple projects. This responsibility sits alongside the core Project Manager duties and will require excellent collaboration, communication and organisational skills, together with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.

Please note, this role is primarily based onsite at our Bidborough House office/Bloomsbury Campus with a minimum of 4-days per week.

About you

You will have a strong track record of delivering major construction and refurbishment projects within large, complex and operational estates environments, together with a sound understanding of project governance, procurement and construction delivery. You will bring excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across technical teams, consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders. Experience of managing project handover, operational readiness or transition activities on major projects would be highly advantageous. You will be highly organised, proactive and collaborative in your approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and customer experience. Experience of working on healthcare, laboratory, research or similarly complex environments would also be beneficial.
