UCL Innovation & Enterprise, part of UCL’s Vice-Provost Office for Research, Innovation & Global Engagement (RIGE), works with the UCL community and external organisations to grow UCL’s innovation and impact through knowledge exchange. The department, made up of specialists from academia and industry, brings together teams that help the UCL community take their knowledge and ideas into the world to change society and the economy for the better.

About the role

As Communications Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality internal and external communications for UCL Innovation & Enterprise, ensuring high visibility internally and externally of UCL’s knowledge exchange and innovation activity. You'll support the development and delivery of impactful, strategically aligned communications campaigns and content that raises the profile of knowledge exchange and innovation. You will also drive engagement with staff, students and external partners, contributing to UCL’s wider institutional priorities and messaging.

Working as a versatile communications professional, you will create compelling editorial, digital and multimedia content across a range of channels, including web, social media, video and podcasts. You will manage all aspects of UCL Innovation & Enterprise’s social media channels and provide support in updating and maintaining the external website pages and internal communications platform (SharePoint). You will also support brand development, and use insight and evaluation to continuously improve communications performance.

About you

To do this job you'll need:

  • Experience working in a communications, marketing, PR or similar environment
  • Experience of social media management from creating and publishing content, monitoring engagement and growing followers.
  • Strong experience writing, editing and proofreading content for different audiences and channels.
  • Demonstrable experience of running strategic campaigns
  • Experience producing engaging digital content for a number of different platforms
  • Experience using data, analytics or audience insight to inform communications decisions.
  • Copywriting and research skills/experience for a variety of digital and printed materials, including translating complex source material for a range of audiences.
  • Awareness of the higher education environment or large complex organisations
