About the role

This role is only available for internal secondment. The post holder will provide high level strategic and operational leadership for the research environments of The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment. The post-holder will lead and project manage key aspects of R&I’s cross-faculty support infrastructure and strategic projects, creating conditions for our research environments to be equitable, rigorous, connected, and dynamic. The post-holder will grow and share their expertise in research policy and strategy, including funding trends, open access, research security, ethics, and research culture. The post-holder line manages the Research and Impact Coordinator, and works closely with the Engagement and Impact Development Manager, the Research and Impact Data Analyst, other professional services colleagues, and the academic leadership group including the Vice Dean Research.

Key aspects of the role are to:

  • Lead the creation of cross-faculty research related networks and sharing opportunities, connecting colleagues from across our departments with each other and with the broader research support landscape.
  • Lead the establishment of research development training programmes, ensuring that the needs of our academics are met and that it draws on the expertise of our academic leaders and professional services. Liaising with Organisational Development and other training partners to create a valuable training programme.
  • Lead the REF “Contribution to Knowledge and Understanding” submission to REF2029, providing consistent project management. This includes co‑leading the Bartlett Output Forum with the Vice Dean Research.

About you

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of key research policy trends, including open access, research security, ethics, and experience of planning and managing multi‑stakeholder projects. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external staff at all levels. You will have excellent oral and written communication and numerical skills and the ability to research, draft, critique and present reports on complex issues to a broad range of audiences.
