Biosciences is one of the largest Divisions within UCL with 600 staff and 2040 undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, and a leading centre for research and teaching in the biological sciences. It brings together one of the UK’s largest and most diverse life sciences communities, with strong integration across experimental, field, and computational approaches. Research spans evolutionary and population genetics, ecology and the environment, cell and developmental biology, computational biology, neuroscience, and structural and molecular biology. This work is supported by advanced scientific infrastructure and platforms (including light, electron and cryoEM microscopy, NMR, mass spectrometry, molecular biology and genomics) and a large community of 350 postgraduate research students integrated within doctoral research programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Divisional team of Executive Assistants to undertake a wide range of management, planning and organisational activities. The post holder will work closely with the Head of the Research Department, academic and research staff and Divisional professional services teams, as well as other colleagues across the Faculty and beyond.
About the role
The main purpose of this position is to play a key role in the Division, as part of its Professional Services Team, in providing essential support for the successful administration and operation of a Research Department across a range of areas. These will include PA support to the Head of the Research Department and other senior academics, and working with staff, business, and finance processes and administration. This is a fixed-term role until 2 August 2027 and is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 60% on site.
About you
You must be educated to A Level standard or equivalent, or have substantial relevant experience, and have experience of successfully planning a range of events. You must also have the ability to prioritise effectively, have excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently. Confidence and willingness to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders is also essential.
