UCL is one of the world’s leading universities, recognised for academic excellence, global impact, and a strong commitment to tackling real-world challenges. We are a diverse community where bold ideas are not only welcomed but expected - where thinking differently is part of our culture.
Now is an exciting time to join us as we develop our change management capability and lead transformation that is reshaping how students and staff experience UCL. Targeted change activity is essential, to enable local leaders and teams to land transformational change, ensuring the experience of change is human-centric, resulting in higher adoption levels across the university.
About the role: Please note this role is a 1 year Maternity cover. We are seeking an experienced Change Manager to play a key role in shaping how UCL designs, delivers, and sustains change. Working within the Strategic Change team, you will deliver change management activity across one or more projects, ensuring the successful adoption of new ways of working.
You will develop and deliver robust change plans and compelling communication and engagement plans; manage change readiness; and coach leaders and teams to embed change effectively. The role may involve supporting a broad range of change initiatives, including digital, process, and people-focused change (organisational design). Examples of transformation initiatives include revolutionising our timetable capability and improving our services for students and staff.
About you: You are a confident and curious change management practitioner with a strong track record of shaping and delivering change management plans and interventions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You bring deep expertise in both agile and waterfall change management methodology, from strategic change thinking to stakeholder mapping to assessing aggregate impacts and enabling high adoption rates. You thrive on simplifying complexity and translating a compelling change narrative for all impacted communities across UCL.
You’re skilled at navigating large organisations and understand how to design change management interventions that are proven across organisational communities. You know how to engage diverse voices and translate their needs into a strategic change management approach. You lead with empathy and evidence, supporting delivery teams to embed successful change. You’re as comfortable in a workshop as you are advising senior leaders, and you know how to build trust, influence decisions, and embed sustainable change management practices that leave a lasting legacy.
Please read our job description carefully, paying particular attention to the essential and desirable criteria, and ensure these things are covered in your application.
What we offer: As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits.
