Lecturer in Sustainable and Resilient Cities (Empower Ukraine Project)

About the role: University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Sustainable and Resilient Cities on the Empower Ukraine Project. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 in the world for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. The post holder will carry out teaching, research, and programme administration within the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, consistent with the vision and mission of The School.

The Empower Ukraine Project is a capacity building initiative led by University College London (UCL) in partnership with Ukrainian universities and governmental structures. The project supports the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine’s higher education and infrastructure sectors through innovative teaching, research, and capacity-building. This initiative aims to strengthen academic capability, promote Eurocode-aligned engineering standards, and deliver world-class digital education to Ukrainian universities and professionals.

UCL invites applications for the post of Lecturer to support the educational delivery of the Empower Ukraine Project; candidates should have fluency in Ukrainian and English. The postholder will contribute to designing, developing, and teaching modules in civil engineering, architecture or urban planning, resilient built environments, and digital urban systems within UCL’s framework of excellence. This is a full-time role on a 1-year fixed-term contract.

About you: The successful applicant will be expected to be fluent in Ukrainian and English, have a PhD in Civil Engineering and demonstrated experience in developing and delivering courses or learning materials, preferably using Moodle or similar virtual learning environments. The appointee is required to have a PhD in a relevant field, and experience of research or teaching in a related discipline. They will have a strong track record in scholarship and research, research publications, and funding. They will also have experience of effective pedagogical approaches to support student learning in online and blended environments. The successful candidate will be able to work harmoniously with staff and students of all cultures and backgrounds and possess excellent stakeholder liaison and/or public engagement skills.
