Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience. The Student Immigration Advice and Compliance service comprises a team of specialist immigration advisers and compliance officers providing accurate advice and guidance to applicants and students on matters of immigration. We are responsible for ensuring that UCL complies fully with the UKVI sponsorship duties and is therefore able to retain its Student Sponsor status.

About the role

The postholder is responsible for the leadership, management and effective delivery of UCL’s advice, guidance and compliance in relation to UKVI and all student immigration categories. They are UCL’s key contact with UKVI, liaising with Home Office colleagues on regulation implementation, policies and processes. Duties include day-to-day management of the Compliance and Advice Managers as well as monitoring, reviewing and enhancing existing advice, policies and procedures. Responsibility also includes ensuring UCL maintains readiness for an institutional audit by UKVI as well as providing ad hoc advice, analysis and review when requested by senior management and other stakeholders. This role will be fixed-term for 18 months in the first instance.

About you

The successful applicant will have extensive experience of implementing UKVI regulations for student immigration categories as well as experience of dealing with a range of issues relating to student immigration advice and compliance. They will also be an experienced leader with excellent communication skills. The ability to communicate complex information in a sensitive way to a range of stakeholders is an essential requirement of the role.
