The Evening and Weekend Team provides essential library support to users by providing a safe and secure study environment as well as delivering front-of-house support to a high standard of service. The post holder is part of a customer-facing team providing professional, high quality library services and support for the library’s resources, learning spaces and facilities during evenings and weekends.
Library Assistants are expected to be alert to the needs of the library users by being proactive with help and assistance to others, as well as vigilantly acting on any hazard or broken equipment in order to provide a safe learning environment.
Special Working Conditions include manual handling, and fire evacuation marshal responsibilities. Training will be provided. This is an on-campus role. It is not suitable for regular remote working. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation.
We are looking for candidates who in particular have the following experience and skills:
- Experience of interacting with customers in a frontline service environment, providing information in-person and online.
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks under pressure, accurately and with attention to detail, including data entry and filing.
- Communicating clearly so that everyone understands your message and intention.
Working hours for this role is: 14.5 hours/week (0.40 FTE) Location: Bloomsbury Campus (IoE, LaSS & Main Libraries)
