The UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences (FPHS) brings together eight academic departments (Child Health, Epidemiology and Health Care, Women’s Health, Cardiovascular Science, Clinical Trials and Methodology, Global Health, Health Informatics, Global Business School for Health) whose common aim is to explore and understand the underlying factors that cause ill-health, and innovate to improve health worldwide.
The Faculty is one of the two leading Population Health Schools in the UK and top among Russell Group universities as demonstrated by the Research Excellence Framework 2014 results. UCL is ranked 5th in the world for Public Health (ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021). We host more than 30 taught programmes, mainly for postgraduate students, and have around 400 students studying towards a PhD qualification. This post sits in the UCL Global Business School for Health (GBSH).
The UCL Global Business School for Health is integral to UCL’s academic strategy and forms part of the UCL East development in Stratford. It provides the opportunity for UCL to help create and support a cadre of leading professionals with the skillset to meet the challenges of healthcare delivery and improved population health on a global scale in the 21st century.
About the role
Under the direction of the Head of Education and Student Experience, the Education Manager (UCL East) will provide high-level administrative and operational management to support the smooth running and effective provision of education within GBSH.
The role-holder will play a key role in developing our education delivery and support across the GBSH UG, PGT and PGR courses. Working closely with senior managers and academics, the role-holder will contribute to strategic planning, innovation and consistent application of good practice in education.
The role holder will manage an MBA Programme Manager, three Education Coordinators, a Student Experience Officer and a Student Projects Coordinator, providing high-quality, professional administrative support for education activities across GBSH. Key relationships for this role will be the GBSH Education Team, Head of Education and Student Experience, senior management in GBSH, the learning technology team, and the Faculty Office.
The post holder will work closely with staff to support the development and implementation of the Faculty’s education strategy. The person will lead in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students and staff relating to the designated courses. The role will include management of matters related to the educational activities of students from enquiry to completion.

About you
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent professional experience (such as data analysis, report writing, creative problem solving, presentation skills).
- Proven track record in administration and/or management, preferably within a higher education environment.
- Knowledge of the university structure, the pressures and challenges facing the higher education sector, and the importance of this student
- Ability to demonstrate effective self-management and focus and to consider the wider implications of decisions and potential
- Ability to manage and prioritise competing workloads, maintaining high standards while working to tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate with colleagues at all levels as well as external
- Ability to deal diplomatically with sensitive situations and maintain strict
- Strong written communication skills: ability to produce accurate data-based reports to deadlines.
- Strong verbal communication skills: ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
