This role is available to internal UCL candidates only. This dynamic and exciting role will allow you to lead communications & marketing across UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering’s (EEE) diverse activities within Education, Research and Innovation. Supported by the wider Communications Community of Practice and the Faculty of Engineering, the post holder will be encouraged to develop a professional network from across UCL, enabling you to develop and deliver a rewarding and impactful communications and marketing strategy. Supported by the Strategic Alliance Director and Departmental leadership you will be given the opportunity to develop your ideas and innovative approaches to Communications and Marketing to meet the core objectives and strategy of the department.
The role will specialise in developing, delivering, and reviewing the department’s internal and external communications strategy and its contingent elements. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Designing and producing newsletters, flyers, brochures and web documents.
- Maintaining an effective and innovative social media presence while keeping abreast of institutional activities for dissemination to all relevant stakeholders across all media platforms and events.
- Ensuring the visual identity of the department is in harmony with UCL’s overall branding.
- Organising and supporting a range of departmental events, including inaugural/distinguished lecture series, social events, careers, recruitment and networking events for students, alumni, prospective students and internal and external contacts.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 60% FTE on site attendance on our Bloomsbury campus. The post is available until 31st May 2027.
Applicants should have an undergraduate qualification in a communications or marketing discipline, or equivalent professional experience. A strong understanding of websites, social media and multimedia, and how they can be used for marketing is essential, as well as a successful track record in managing and delivering top quality strategic communications and campaigns. Extensive experience of writing, editing and sub-editing, including the expression of complex or technical material in lay terminology is also required. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and discretion, and the ability to liaise with staff and external individuals at all levels and work within small teams. Experience of simple video production is desirable, as well as the ability to innovate and to implement new communications strategies and novel technologies.
