We are The Bartlett, UCL’s global Faculty of the Built Environment. Individually, our departments lead their fields. In partnership, they develop new responses to pressing world issues. As a whole, they represent a world‑leading, multidisciplinary faculty, united by the radical spirit of UCL. It is made up 13 Schools, Institutes, Centres and Units, providing teaching and research in a wide range of subject areas to over 4,000 students each year from across the world.

This role is part of The Bartlett Marketing and Communications team, delivering strategic communications and marketing for The Bartlett faculty and all departments.

About the role

This post will be fixed term ending on 30 April 2027. The Communications Manager will play a key role in raising awareness and reputation of The Bartlett Faculty of The Built Environment, and our academic departments, as a leading global hub for education and research. They will take the lead on delivering an engaging, effective schedule of communications for internal and external audiences through digital channels including website, social media and email. This role offers an exciting opportunity to step into a management position, and develop creative communications campaigns and build brand narrative through a range of communications content, publications and public events.

About you

You will be an experienced communications professional with proven expertise in delivering integrated communications across digital and print channels for diverse audiences, alongside strong experience in creating, managing and optimising website content using a content management system such as Drupal. You will have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging and accurate content tailored to different platforms and stakeholders, and will demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills with experience advising and building effective relationships across all levels of an organisation. You will be able to manage multiple competing priorities in a complex environment, working independently with sound judgement and initiative to identify opportunities and resolve issues, while using communications data and analytics to evaluate performance and inform improvements. A collaborative approach is essential, with experience supporting colleagues, contributing to team development, and consistently delivering high‑quality communications outcomes.
