The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Engineering Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), was launched in 2025 with the aim of training the next generation of industry, public-sector, and academic leaders to engineer and coordinate solutions for the challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The Centre provides a unique cohort experience to its students, offering 4-year PhD studentships.

The Centre is a collaboration between the UCL Faculties of Engineering Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Life and Medical Sciences, and will be hosted by the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN). The LCN is an interdisciplinary enterprise between University College London, King’s College London, and Imperial College London. In bringing together world-class infrastructure and leading nanotechnology research activities, the Centre aims to attain the critical mass to compete with the best facilities abroad. The LCN has strong relationships with the broader nanotechnology and commercial communities and is involved in major collaborations. As the world’s only such facility located in the heart of a metropolis, the LCN has superb access to corporate, investment, and industrial partners. It is at the forefront of training in nanotechnology and has a strong media presence aimed at educating the public and bringing transparency to this emerging science.

At UCL, the LCN occupies an eight-story building on the Bloomsbury campus. The LCN at UCL functions as a research department in the MAPS Faculty at UCL, hosting 35 research groups, 140 postgraduate research students, and several advanced research facilities. It has extensive connections with other departments and faculties across UCL, with partner universities, and with national laboratories. About the role: The CDT Partnerships Manager will lead the development and delivery of strategic collaborations with internal (UCL) and external (academic, industry, government, charity, healthcare) partners to support and grow the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). Working closely with the Centre Director, Deputy Director (Partnerships), CDT Manager, and Management Team, the postholder will execute the mid- to long-term development plan for external partnerships, ensuring sustained business growth and excellence in industrial relations. This includes managing collaborative research projects, embedding industrial expertise in teaching, and promoting the CDT’s profile nationally, across the EU, and internationally. The role requires efficient project management, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The postholder will organise regular planning and review meetings with external partners and internal colleagues, represent the CDT at national meetings and networks, and provide a high-quality, timely service to current and prospective students and staff. Engagement with Faculty and Central UCL services is essential to maximise opportunities for the Centre. A professional attitude, willingness to help, and a positive outlook are key to success in this dynamic and outward-facing role.

This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE) on a fixed-term contract until September 2032.
