At UCL, we’re proud to be one of the world’s leading universities – and we know that an exceptional student experience starts with feeling welcome, safe and supported. Our award-winning Accommodation Team manages over 26 halls, housing more than 6,500 residents in some of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. We’re now looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Assistant Accommodation Advisor to join our front-line team!
Be part of London’s Global University – and help our students feel at home.
You’ll be the welcoming face of UCL Accommodation, providing a first-class reception service to our students, visitors and contractors. From handling enquiries and resolving issues to supporting check-ins, check-outs, inspections and events, you’ll ensure our residents enjoy the very best experience.
Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll also play a key role behind the scenes – from managing bookings and payments in our StarRez system to liaising with contractors, reporting maintenance issues and helping coordinate social events. No two days will be the same, and you’ll have the chance to make a genuine difference in students’ lives.
Please note, this is a 12-months fixed term contract role and is offered full time onsite at our Bloomsbury Gold accommodation sites. The role will require an enhanced DBS check for the successful applicant.
You will have previous experience working in the accommodation, hospitality or retail sectors, alongside a proven track record in a similar customer-facing role. You understand how to deliver excellent service and are highly skilled in recognising, empathising with and responding to customer needs.
A confident and professional communicator, you remain calm and solutions-focused in challenging situations, building positive relationships with a wide range of people. You are self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, while also contributing positively as part of a team. You bring a collegiate and adaptable approach, with a willingness to take on challenges and respond flexibly to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
Well organised and able to manage your time effectively, you are comfortable prioritising competing demands, multitasking and working to deadlines. You can operate at pace while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You are computer literate, with experience of using Microsoft Office and confidence in working with administrative systems.
You will be willing to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as part of a rota to support a 24/7 residential and campus environment. Please note, an enhanced DBS certificate is required for this role.
As well as exciting opportunities, UCL offers a range of great benefits including:
- 41 days’ holiday (27 days annual leave, 8 bank holidays, 6 closure days)
- Option to purchase 5 additional days’ annual leave
- Defined benefit career average revalued earnings pension scheme (CARE)
- Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan, and immigration loan
- Relocation support for eligible posts
- On-site nursery and gym
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay
- Staff Support Service (employee assistance programme)
As London’s Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong. We particularly encourage applications from candidates underrepresented in UCL’s workforce, including those from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds, disabled people, and – for Grade 9 and 10 roles – women.
