About the role

This new role will support the UCL School of Management’s alumni team in strengthening engagement with our growing alumni community in East Asia. The role will help strengthen the School’s global reputation in the region by cultivating a highly engaged alumni community and will work closely with colleagues from across the School who also focus on East Asia (including Global Engagement, Marketing and Careers). With a focus on scaling activities in East Asia, this role is responsible for supporting the philanthropic pipeline by developing and leading event programming, community and volunteer management, and utilising relevant social media platforms to engage our diverse alumni network. The role will also develop strong ties with Chinese alumni based outside of China. The Alumni Officer (East Asia) will take ownership of alumni data for the region, leading data updates and interpreting data to support and influence strategy.

Key requirements include previous experience in alumni relations and community building in an East Asian context, event management, adept relationship management, strong English and Mandarin communication skills and attention to detail. The role will also require international travel. The Alumni Relations Officer reports directly to the Alumni Relations Manager and collaborates closely with various School teams, including Teaching and Learning, Communications and Marketing, Careers, Corporate Relations, Global Engagement and Student Experience. This post may require evening or early‑morning work and international travel.

Salary details – UCL Grade 7 £43,981 to £52,586 pro rata (including London Allowance)

About you

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level (or hold an equivalent qualification) or bring significant experience within Higher Education or a similar environment. They will have proven experience of working with databases and/or CRM systems, including producing reports and maintaining accurate, up-to-date records through regular updates and edits. They will also demonstrate experience in data segmentation, analysis and visualisation, using data effectively to support decision-making. The role requires the ability to build and manage strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver high‑quality projects, activities and events. In addition, the candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling them to engage confidently with a wide range of audiences at all levels within the university and beyond. Strong organisational skills are essential, with a methodical approach to work and a high level of attention to detail.
