An early-stage, well-funded AI company in the energy space is looking for a Founding Engineer to help take a production platform through its next stage of growth. The product is already live and used in the real world. The focus now is scaling it, extending core APIs, and responding directly to customer demand.
You’ll work closely with the founder, have genuine ownership over technical direction, and play a key role as the company moves towards its next funding round. This suits someone who enjoys being close to the product and the decisions - not just implementing tickets.
You’ll be building and owning backend systems, shaping architecture, and helping define how the platform evolves. We’re looking for a strong backend engineer who’s comfortable owning production APIs, ideally with TypeScript / Node.js (or a solid Java/Python background with Node experience), who thinks in systems and trade-offs. A product mindset matters more than years on a CV. Interest in AI-driven tooling and early-stage environments is a big plus.
You should be happy working in a small, high-trust team, collaborating in person a few days a week, and taking responsibility for outcomes rather than just code. In return, this offers real ownership, £100k salary plus equity, and a clear path into a senior or “head of” role as the company scales.
